RCWG Sticker Collection

Graphic Design + Illustration

2023 - Present

This project began during my time as an Arts Administration intern at the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery in Claremont, CA. While there, I was encouraged to develop and contribute to projects that would leave a lasting impact on the gallery and connect meaningfully with its collections.

As a student, I noticed a lack of awareness among my school of the gallery as a resource… and as a designer with an interest in marketing and communications, I wanted to create a solution.

The RePlanting (2021) Crystal Morey

The results of this campaign were clear. After distributing the stickers at gallery openings and events, these designs started showing up everywhere on campus! With only the initial cost of the sticker-printing, the gallery was able to make their presence on campus known and increase participation among students at gallery events, workshops, and as an academic resource.

Releasing more stickers encouraged students to come back again, and each new design introduced a new facet of the gallery’s collections and conservation efforts. This project led to a freelance graphic-design relationship with the gallery and additional projects in designing event flyers and postcards.

This led to the development of the Williamson Gallery’s sticker collection: a way to introduce pivotal pieces from the collection to students and encourage students to spread the word about the gallery on their own accord.

I worked with the gallery to identify which pieces they most wanted to share with students, and also made selections of my own of what I knew my classmates would be drawn to. As long as they liked the designs, I knew the gallery would have an effective and sustainable marketing plan through students customizing their water bottles, laptops, bikes, etc. and sharing the stickers with others.
